Demys is pleased to announce that Tim Brown has been appointed as an independent expert for the .uk naming authority’s Dispute Resolution Service (DRS).

Nominet’s DRS is designed to offer an efficient and transparent method of resolving disputes in the .uk Top Level Domain and is a quick and inexpensive alternative to resolving domain name disputes through litigation and the courts. Where .uk domain name disputes cannot be solved through Nominet’s mediation procedure, cases are referred to an independent expert for a decision.

Tim said

“I am delighted to have been appointed by Nominet to adjudicate disputes as part of the Dispute Resolution Service. I hope to bring my experience in Internet intellectual property issues to bear in assisting with resolving disputes within the .uk domain name space.”

Demys’ Client Director Penny Hearn said

“Tim’s appointment as an independent expert by Nominet is commendable and indeed testament to the institutional expertise Demys has to offer. In fact, as Tim joins Andrew Lothian on Nominet’s Expert Panel, I believe we are one of very few advisers in the UK to have two of our team recognised in this way.
